salvete omnes!

Hi! I'm Miles Rosenberg, and I’m currently a senior at Arlington High School. I've been singing in choirs for over seven years, and I'm currently in six ensembles: three school-run (AHS Madrigal Singers, Chorale, and Bros II Men); two student-run (Jazz Combo and the Volunteer Vocals), and one extracurricular (Handel + Haydn Youth Chorus of Tenors + Basses). I also had the pleasure of performing in AHS' production of Hadestown: Teen Edition.

In School

I have been in Bros II Men, the Madrigal Singers, and the general chorus for all four years at AHS. We've done a lot of really fun and beautiful pieces, some of my favorites are showcased below!

The Madrigal Singers

The Madrigal Singers (aka Mads) are Arlington High School's select choir. We meet before school to rehearse four days a week. I have been a member of Mads all four years of high school and a section leader the last two. Among other honors, the Madrigal Singers are MICCA gold medal winners, were one of two groups invited to perform at the MMEA All-State showcase last year, and have been selected as a featured performing group for the 2027 NAfME Eastern Division Conference.

This is the Madrigal Singer's performance of Zachary Moore's "Hope" at the end of our performance season at Cary Hall. We were invited to perform by the “Special Needs Arts Programs” of Lexington. While it was a couple of years ago, it is a great showcase of a polished piece in a space with amazing acoustics.

This performance is of “Ubi Caritas” by Ola Gjeilo. For the last three years we have been invited to a workshop followed by a performance with the Cantata Singers of Boston. It was a spectacular time performing in Old South Church in downtown Boston where the space really let the sound ring.

Bros II Men

On Thursdays, the Madrigal Singers splits into two groups, one being Bros II Men (Bros). One of the highlights of Bros II Men is the energy that everyone brings. The group includes both all the baritones from Mads and any tenor or bass from AHS who wishes to join.

Nothing quite encapsulates the energy that Bros II Men brings like “Dance” by Robert T. Gibson. This performance during Arlington's "All Town Concert" shows the Bros energized and at its best.

AHS Chorale

The Arlington High School Chorale is the general elective choir. With 111 members, it is by far the largest chorus I'm in. The scale gives us the biggest sound out of any of my choirs, and it is even more fun when we perform with the full orchestra at the end of each year. In 2024 Chorale attended workshops and performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Choirs of America “Nationals for Top Choirs” Festival.

In September of 2026 we had the joy of performing the National Anthem in Fenway Park. This was one of the most incredible experiences I've had, not only for singing in the stadium, but also the process of preparing for it.

After Hours

I've also ended up in my fair share of ensembles outside of the school chorus room. I have been a part of the Handel + Haydn Youth Chorus of Tenors + Basses since middle school (save a quick break sophomore year to coach kindergarteners soccer), helped found the AHS Volunteer Vocals which performs a cappella classics at senior living homes, and began singing with AHS’ Jazz Combo this fall.

The Handel + Haydn Society Youth Chorus of Tenors + Basses

I have been singing with the HHYC Chorus of Tenors + Basses since 8th grade, performing everything from 3-part pieces to masterworks. I have loved my Saturday mornings there practicing with such dedicated singers from across the Greater Boston area. This fall, we attended the “Sing On UConn!” Low Voices Festival for workshops and a performance.

Nothing quite encapsulates CTB's sound as Joan Szymko's "Winter Ride". This lush piece shows off our attention to dynamic contrast and expression.

Volunteer Vocals (Volvos)

I am a founding member of the Arlington High School's Volunteer Vocals (or Volvos for short). Volvos is an a cappella group founded by me and seven other friends to sing at senior living homes in and around Arlington. We have been working on recruiting to keep the Volvos spirit going into the future. So far we've performed over a dozen times, with more on the horizon!

While Volvos runs throughout the entire school year (September through June) we are certainly at our busiest in December. I feel like this recording of our performance at The Gables of “Over the Rainbow”, arranged by E.Y. Harburg best shows off our ability to blend voices.

Of course, as with any a capella group, we have a lot of energy to share. Our performance of “16 Tons” as arranged by Kirby Shaw highlights our ability to get snapping and moving.

Jazz Combo

This year a bunch of my friends recruited me to AHS' Jazz Combo. A dramatic shift from my usual choral singing, performing with Combo has been an amazing time, both in performing with talented musicians and in challenging myself.

At this year’s Arlington Town Day I had a spectacular time singing a duet (with the horns) of an English translation of “Black Orpheus”.

On my Own

My first love is choral performance. But over the years I have also enjoyed learning and performing several solo pieces. Through both Berklee's Vocal/Choral Intensive summer program and private voice lessons, I have learned several pieces I am excited to share!

Summer of Junior year I was admitted to the Berklee Vocal/Choral Intensive program. I really loved my time there, and at our first showcase, I performed Vaughan William's "The Vagabond" with an incredibly talented live accompanist.
